The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria seeks a full- or part-time dedicated General Obstetrician-Gynecologist to join our stable and growing OB/GYN Department in the heart of the Midwest. A faculty rank appointment of Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor of Clinical OB/GYN is commensurate with experience.

Position Summary

Supervise care as a preceptor for residents in the context of clinical care, including within the operating room, labor and delivery, and ambulatory clinic. Fully participate in the teaching programs for residents, undergraduate medical students, and continuing education programs of the Department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.
  • Supervise care as a preceptor for residents in the context of clinical care, including within the operating room, labor and delivery, and ambulatory clinic.
  • Fully participate in the teaching programs for residents, undergraduate medical students, and continuing education programs of the Department.
  • Direct the laborist care team in Labor & Delivery.
  • Function as a University faculty member, performing such duties as are appropriate to academic rank and position.

Academic offices are connected to a quaternary care hospital with a Level I Trauma Center, one of the most comprehensive neuroscience centers in the Midwest, and the largest children’s hospital in downstate Illinois.

Practice locations include two hospital systems just a few blocks apart that serve a diverse patient base population of more than 2 million people across Illinois; and two ambulatory Federally Qualified Health Clinics, both within a 2-minute drive, that care for the medically underserved as part of the Residency Training Program. Faculty also have onsite access to Jump Simulation, a world-class medical simulation center, and the UIC Library of the Health Sciences.

Peoria is a regional campus of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, which is among the largest and most diverse public medical schools in the U.S. The Peoria OB/GYN residency program accepts up to four residents per year, and faculty teach about 80 medical students annually.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to provide excellent clinical care.
  • Strong interest to teach, mentor, and train residents and medical students.
